He really doesn't have a huge ego, it's all a game. If you listen to him enough, he's kidding around. You have to listen to him long enough and you realize it. He is actually a very private guy.
That's what you call "showmanship" - entertainers do it to distinguish themselves from other entertainers...
That ego was a major turnoff for me for years until my husband convinced me that it was tongue in cheek.
I'm sure there is a big ego, but the comments are just putting on the show. But, he does have reason for the ego IMHO.
I have also been very impressed with the kindness and politeness to the callers - no matter how ridiculous they are.
With Rush and Sean we have two good warriors in our battle. Each have different talents but each are needed.
