Hey Gal--how are ya?

I know the photo of which you speak. I don't have it handy, but I'll look. That photo of a Muslim catching fire after trying to burn the American flag was justice.

In the meantime, here is one to inspire a great contrast.

I think Rush said that XM only has about 2 million subscribers, compared to upwards of 20 million that hear him each week on regular radio. I guess you can't blame him for not giving XM much thought.

Unfortunately the wacko Savage took himself OFF of XM, so now we know where his radio show will go...

And those same people will go and vote, and know NOTHING about the candidates who they are voting for, and vote in someone who would be detrimental to our country.
Those same people ( SHEEPLE ) will buy into the bogus propaganda of the MSN and Liberals that we need a " woman " president( for all the wrong reasons, if we elect a woman president, it's going to be someone who you and I agree with on their politics and issues ) and it so conveniently happens that Hillary is going to run in 2008.
These same people ( SHEEPLE ) will think it's cool that we will get to elect a woman president in 2008 and will vote for Hillary for all the wrong reasons, and won't know NOTHING about her, and NOTHING about what she believes in.
If there was a woman I would vote for , for president, it would be Elizabeth Dole.

Just signed up for Rush 24/7. I thought it was 40 a month. I paid $75 for two years of being able to listen to Rush any time. Good Deal.

The man amazes me.

He's all I ever listen to. I rarely even turn on the TV anymore.

Me too....good deal is right. To think I use to have a little battery tape recorder and tape him while leaving my car on...while at work just to be able to listen to most of his show. Times have changed. :)

I have that beat. I record every single show off the 24-7 site onto a special cassette recorder that runs at 25% speed. I can get the whole three hour show (even the fourth hours -when he has them) onto one side of a 90-minute cassette.>br>
I then take these cassettes with me to work to listen to all during the 12-hour shift on the little player I have that plays them back at the same speed.

Oh, Rush (or Snerdly or whoever ya have lurking here at FR),
It's only for personal use. Trust ol' Flagg on that.

I'm watching Obama for different reasons; He seems to have quickly figured out how to ingratiate himself to the "kook-base" by horking up snide cleverly couched soundbytes.

Allow me to demonstrate,

Obama:"If you're walking down the right path and you're willing to keep walking, eventually you'll make progress."

Well, allow the Cap'n to point out that I'm up here on the high-road, the "Right Path" and I have not seen throngs of Liberal Democrats pass this way in any significant numbers for quite some time.

I do see them down there on the low road, The Clinton Highway, the Path of Moral Turpitude and I cans ee that EACH and everyone of them believes that Pacifism, Gay Marriage, Socialism is making progress as long as they continue to "walk"...

This is but one example of the unlikely nature of the vaunted Obamism.

Can I get an Amen.

/Rant mode off ;>

I blocked alot of it out. I think it was about how we need to make our railways safer and how he's going to vote for more money for homeland security. Somewhere in there Tony Snow called him a pig (LOL!!) if that gives you any idea of what it was like.

Re: London's Mayor pre-7/7 comments on Gitmo...good call guv'nr! I believe that Europe and the majority of the U.S. still won't think that Islamic terrorists are a problem. When our own president does absolutely zilch about our borders and our absurd relationship with middle east oil producers why should I?

SCHUMER: LONDON IS IN OUR PRAYERS, U.S. MUST BEEF UP MASS TRANSIT SECURITY IMMEDIATELY

Terrorist Attacks on London’s Mass Transit System, Following Madrid Train Bombing Should be Another Wake-Up Call for U.S. Homeland Security Efforts

Senator Plans to Offer Amendment to Homeland Security Spending Bill Next Week to Drastically Improve Funding Streams for Rail Security, Mass Transit Security, Including Subways and Buses

Schumer Calls on Development and Installation of Smoke Detector-Like Explosive Devices in Mass Transit Systems

U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer released the following statement today on the terrible terrorist attacks in London today:

“The people of London are in our prayers today. After September 11, Americans and the entire world’s people stood behind New Yorkers – I know that we are going to do the same for the people of London. Following the attack on Madrid’s rail system, the terrible terrorist attacks in London is our second wake-up call to greatly improve our rail and mass transit security here in America. It is clear that we’re not doing close to enough and must do more. The soft underbelly of buses and subways and railroads are fully exposed to similar terrorist attacks unless we take real steps to beef up mass transit security immediately.

“When the Homeland Security spending bill comes to the Senate floor next week, I intend to offer amendments to drastically increase the resources for and focus on rail and mass transit security, including New York’s subways and buses.

Schumer’s amendment to the Homeland Security Appropriations bill would double the $100 million proposed for both mass transit and rail security and allocate $100 million for each. The proposed amendment would also double funding for bus security improvements from $10 million to $20 million.

Schumer has repeatedly urged the Administration to augment rail and mass transit security. Schumer called for the federal government to accelerate the development of detectors for rail and subway stations. Currently, individual transportation systems in major U.S. cities are developing their own detection devices, but Schumer said today that a coordinated effort funded by the federal government is needed to overcome the many technological barriers that face scientists and engineers working on such systems.

Schumer is a lead sponsor of the Transportation Security Improvements Act of 2005 (S.1052, 109th) which would spend over $750 million over three years for rail/bus security, along with billions more dollars to beef up security for all modes of transportation across the county.

Schumer has also co-sponsored the Public Transportation Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 (S.2884, 108th), which would have given $1 billion over three years for mass transit security, including authorizations for security assessments, grants, and research and development for mass transit security technology.

Finally, Schumer cosponsored legislation last Congress to allot $1.2 billion over five years for improvements to passenger and freight rail systems throughout the country. The legislation would have directed the Homeland Security Department to assess security risks to freight and passenger rail and develop recommendations for securing them. Schumer's measure would have required the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to study the cost and feasibility of screening all passengers, baggage and mail that travels on Amtrak trains, and would have also required the department to conduct a pilot program to randomly screen passengers and baggage at as many as 10 rail stations.

At Large
Mayor Livingstone, We Presume
By Jay D. Homnick
Published 3/15/2005 12:07:42 AM

On a BBC special in the 1980s about science and religion, Rabbi David Revson was invited to debate a well-known British astronomer. The scientist went first, and he began with this: "I don't know much about religion, but I think it can be summed up by saying 'Do unto others as you would have them do unto you', and couldn't we work that out for ourselves?" Revson countered: "I don't know much about astronomy, but I think it can be summed up by saying 'Twinkle, twinkle, little star'!"

His riposte underscores a rampant malady of recent times, the tendency for people to pontificate on matters whereof they know nary a thing. Having a pulpit handy, they proceed to pronounce about all and sundry. Clearly, this is a case of putting Descartes before the horse: "I talk, therefore I am." Although this is to a degree widespread, one fellow seems to have lately become the poster boy for foot-in-mouth disease. He keeps loosing distemper.

So when I heard that some genius in British local government had accused Israel of "ethnic cleansing" and labeled Ariel Sharon a war criminal who should be in prison and not in office, I immediately said: "Mayor Livingstone, I presume." This is the selfsame mayor of London who asseverated in November of 2003 that President Bush was "the greatest threat to life on the planet that we've most probably ever seen." A bit of a hyper bully, eh?

Sad to say, such statements gain too much currency in Europe to be ignored. So we will pretend that this is a considered opinion from a temperate intellectual and engage it on substance. Rather than focus on its being a little insane and very inane, not to mention mean-spirited and fraught with base animus, we will confine ourselves to arguing that it is just downright... wrong.

The charge that Israel is doing ethnic cleansing can only be premised on whatever arrests or deportations or killings of individual Palestinians might be effected over time by military or civilian arms of government. As if to say that those things, when done, reflect a broader policy of eliminating a population. However, this is simply not true. No Palestinian town or settlement has ever experienced forced evacuation at Israeli hands. Any death or deportation is an isolated result of conflict, usually initiated by Palestinian terrorism.

In fact, the opposite is the case. If anyone is engaged in ethnic cleansing, it is the Palestinians. I recall back in 1988 that syndicated columnist and Boston Herald editorialist Don Feder was sent to Jerusalem to report on the various parties that comprise Israel's political spectrum. He asked me to introduce him to Mr. Abraham Ravitz, who had just been elected to Knesset for his first term, and I sat in on the interview.

Ravitz, a former Lehi member (the Lehi worked alongside the Irgun pre-1948 but tended to be more violent) with scarred features that bespeak a thousand secret skirmishes, challenged Feder with a simple question: "Aren't there Jews in America, in Canada? So if they want Palestine to be a normal state, why can't they accommodate some Jewish citizens? If we have a million Arabs living peacefully in Israel, shouldn't there be Jews living in Palestine too?" He went on to use a loaded phrase from the Nazi era, maintaining that the Palestinians want a judenrein territory.

When I was having an apartment refurbished outside Jerusalem in 1992, a number of Palestinian craftsmen were involved in the project. Ahmad was supervising the work crew, Mahmoud was fashioning magnificent cabinets from mahogany to my specifications, and Daoud was soldering the wrought-iron fences to encircle the balcony. One day, Daoud asked me to drive him back to his village after work. Steering my Mitsubishi down the narrow road, I was suddenly confronted by a Mitsubishi trying to pass me in the opposite direction. The bodies of the vehicles squeaked past each other, but the two rear-view mirrors crashed and fell off.

The young Palestinian driver got out and suddenly a large mob of his compatriots materialized around me with tempers beginning to flare. Over the years, some Jews have been killed in those situations. In my case, Daoud got out from the passenger's side and began to pepper the other driver with staccato Arabic. After a minute or two, the young man grinned sheepishly and drove off; the crowd quickly dissipated. Later, I asked Daoud what magic words he had uttered. "I said that he better hurry and get it fixed before I tell his father that he borrowed the car without permission."

Israel has consistently worked to be welcoming to Palestinians and allowed them to rise in the work force to their level of competence. Even General Sharon, a pugnacious brawler who has often picked fights with Palestinians, has never advocated any large-scale brutalization or deportation. (Other generals have, not he.) There is some question whether as Prime Minister he is in over his head. But one thing is clear: the Peter Principle is working overtime in London, where the Mayor's potty cracks reveal his incompetence.

> What did Rush say to Boxer? I missed it.

I'm sorry, whatever I said I couldn't begin to do him justice, I'm waiting to see a transcript myself. In a nutshell, Rush took Boxer's remarks and used her own words to show what a pathetic fool she is. He completely took her apart and mopped the floor with her, (which, if he did that literally would create quite a mess, now that I think of it).
