LOS ANGELES Los Angeles police have set up a special command center following a series of deadly explosions in London today.
Police dispatcher Anthony Rivers says officials are meeting to discuss whether to step up security locally.
He says he doesn't know whether officials will upgrade the city's security alert level at this point.

Not yet, anyway."
You may not recall New Year's 2000. A Canadian border crossing guard had a sense that something was unusual about an Arabic man driving across the Canadian American border so she asked him to open the trunk of his car.
That is how one lone Canadian border patrol agent prevented a nuclear explosion scheduled for later in the year at Los Angeles International Airport when she discovered a small nuclear bomb device with all parts included.
You may also have forgotten that President Reagan was Governor of California for eight years and that Orange County and San Diego County have a very large conservative presence.

You may be right. But, for some reason, I'm thinking that was post-9/11, like maybe New Year's 2002. No biggie.

Just last week Mayor Villar had a shaken look after being given the LA threat assessment.

That is sad. For some people, they won't get it till it strikes them down.

To tell you the truth, all they have done is added a deputy to each platform of the Red Line.
Then they checked to see if the WMD sniffer at Pershing Square station was functioning....I thought they left that thing on all the time!

For those in denial, it's going to be an even bigger shock when the fight on American soil begins.

No offense to any Freepers in LA or California, but I find it hard to believe that Al-Queda would target any area (Hollywood especially) of the country where sympathy for their cause is so strong. So why did they attack NY? Because it's so conservative? Where do you people get this stuff?

Actually, the bad guys made it clear today, that they continue to like subways for targets.
The west has very few subways, and can easily operate without them.
The east is a different story. Shutting down the subway system can shut an entire city down.
