I guess I have decided that the world of ideas and freedoms trumps the art and architecture.

I know what you mean but where was France when the Taliban were blowing up those ancient stone carvings?

The French were silent then but reserved their outrage for our troops alleged destruction of Islamic art,,a phony report, but very revealing.

The French care more about hating us, selling out than they do about the Louvre. I have given up on them. But that is just me.

But it is freedom and ideas that make art and architecture possible. The Muslims respect neither freedom nor art. I understand how people can speak about the French as one because of the country's policies. But, knowing French people on an individual level, they are lovely.

I don't want to judge all by a country's policies no more than I want others to judge me by policies I disagree with here.

But, this is all IMHO.
