I'm probably the most emotional person about this in my office at the moment...after people phoned their relatives to ensure they were OK, they went back to work.

They can disrupt, they can cause concern, but we carry on.

Regards, Ivan

I think we can count on our British cousins to do the right thing. True, there will be a percentage of the population willing to capitulate, just as there is in the U.S. But the majority will have none of it. I'd say they should have attacked France, but they have no need to do so because they already own the French (assuming this is radical Islam at work).

The Nazis couldn't do it in The Blitz, the people of Great Britain showed that civilians could perservere over one of the greatest military machines the world had ever seen.

The resolve of your people is legendary and inspiring. I have no doubt that you will prevail!

Well said. That should be the motto for all of us in this strange time of unconventional, "asymmetric", war. If this is the work of terrorists (not yet confirmed?), I pray we have the fortitude to deal with people who carry their grudges for centuries.
In the meantime, prayers for you and your country. Hang in there.

We will not abandon you in your time of need, friend. My thoughts are with you and yours on this terrible day. The rhetoric from the American lefts is going to get hot and heavy following this, placing the blame right on the shoulders of President Bush. Hang in there, ignore it as much as possible and know that most of us understand this level of hate the jihadi's are prone to show, and will not forget what this war was about from the very beginning.

And that is the British heart which survived the bombings of WW2. My dear father served from an airbase in your country during that time and from the stories he told of the British people's courage, I have always felt a kinship. And now this. We feel your anguish, anger, and sorrow. Your country is in our prayers.

"No wonder of it: sheer plod makes plow down sillion shine" -Gerard Manley Hopkins

I've lived in England and know the British people well. The British are as resolute and imperturbable as the Spanish are feckless and panicky.

Terrorists shall learn a hard lesson dearly.
