Why? Why not Afghanistan (that's what Galloway said today......that it was both Afghanistan and Iraq). And why did they not single out Poland, a strong ally there?

You are correct. Argued with a liberal a little while ago who continued giving reasons and excuses - including the excuse that it's because we're in Iraq.

Well, I try to be realistic. Realistically, most of the world was onside with Afghanistan, but the UK was the only major power onside with Iraq. That made us a target just like it made the Spanish targets. We understand that. This isn't the sort of war where there is a front and civilians are in a nice safe rear area. We knew this could happen when we signed up, we signed up anyway and aren't walking away.
I am afraid I have to disagree with you (OWfan). Of course, these attacks are related to Iraq and Afghanistan. These islamoclowns scored a victory in Spain with the same tactics. That caused us to lose an ally. GB is our biggest ally and the WOT is not popular there, so perhaps a little nudge could push Blair out?
Are you surprised that there has been no attack in Ottawa? I'm not. That doesn't mean they won't try it some day, but why waste your limited resources on an attack that would have little political play? I would be worried in Warsaw, Copenhagen and Sofia right now (BTW the Bulgarians have their own home grown islamowackos to worry about), and of course, Rome.
The surprise is that the attack was not larger. It now has the possibility to boomerang on the islamowackos. I wonder where those 2 unexploded bombs were? Cold feet or bad technology? It's hard to believe the latter. Perhaps they were surprised when attempting to plant them.
Are these guys going to plant a bomb in Delhi, or Beijing or Rio de Janeiro or Capetown or Djkarta? No way - what would those get them. So far Chirac has bought quiet in Paris, by sucking up to them, if I were him I'd be getting real nervous. The French just have too many muslims with a history.
