The United Kingdom cannot do want Spain or the US did after the Beirut Bombing. They must show they mean buisness and they need to kick some terrorist ass.
They will do exactly what needs to be done. They stood alone against Hitler. Unlike us, they wouldn't freak out because some bride runs away. It takes a lot to ruffle their feathers.
Hell, if you saw some of the older Monty Python stuff, you'd see they used to do skits mocking the IRA bombings. As I said, the US could learn a lesson or two from then when it comes to these kinds of things. They don't scare easily.

Our public services look like they still have their act together. They got a lot of practice at this sort of thing during 20 odd years of the IRA doing it.
In general public reaction here is about what I'd expect. Calm and stubbornly unmoved. This isn't going to change anyones mind here about the war on terrorism I think.
Whatever they thought about it already, they'll probably carry on thinking. What isn't going to happen though, and what didn't happen for the IRA is the British people letting themselves be intimidated or influenced by this.
Bombing us has been tried. It doesn't work.

As I said, the US could learn a lesson or two from then when it comes to these kinds of things. They don't scare easily. One of the blogs I read said that the pubs were doing booming business today. Everyone is staying calm, going to work if they can get there, and having a pint or two at lunch or in the afternoon. They sound like they've stayed very cool during all this, and my hat is off to them.
