JULY 7, 1937 - Following the setting up of a commission to investigate the mandate in Palestine, the Peel Report was published in Britain. It recommended that there should be separate Arab and Jewish states.

But's that not the defeat it seems to be on the surface. There was a partition, but now 2/3rds of the land had by that time been taken away from the Jews and the White Paper of 1939 was just around the corner.
