I'm very grateful to England for defeating the Spanish Armada and later in history defeating Napoleon.
Also, you all bore the brunt of resisting Hitler for a couple years before we sent our military over to help.
My father's people came over here from Hertfordshire in the 1650's, and we still have a soft spot in our hearts for England. His mother was the child of a Scot immigrant. My mother's father was a German immigrant, who started as a pharmacist and then went into the clergy.
Of my over 12 5th & 6th great grandfathers who served
in the Rev War from New England and two of my german's
from Pennsylvania.
One of my 5th greats who was at Bunker Hill was also in
the French and Indian war. He was captured by the French
in the 1750s and taken to Paris and put in prison.
After an exchange of prisoners he was returned to first
N.Y. where his brother found him and took him back to
New Hampshire. Years later he fought again, this time
for America at Bunker Hill.
