You just keep thinkin', Butch, that's what you're good at.

And "thinkin" (much less debating) clearly ISN'T your strong point.
You should have quit while you were ahead. :)

Jeez, dude, lay off the caffeine. Who cares? I committed no crime. I can change it as much as I want. It is still mostly a free country, isn't it?

What kind of suicide is it when you are able to get rid of your own body?

Swim out to sea and drown yourself. It apparently happens from time to time.

That's evidence of chicanery in itself - not wholly determinative of anything, but it's certainly evidence that something is amiss. Since in this case that 'something' is a missing person, I'd say that's evidence of a crime.

Now that you put it that way, learned barrister, I recall that the spokesman for the Aruban govt did say that the reason Paul van der sloot was arrested was because he changed his story. Specifically that when Greta interviewed him the day before he told her something different from what he had told the police. I remember Greta describing the interview (it was not broadcast). She said he told her that he picked up Joran at 11 pm at McDonalds and then went to bed. That may have been what differed from what he had told police previously.

Whatever, I am enjoying the free legal education that I am getting here at FR.

GRRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrr!!!!!! What a bunch of slime-balls. Aruba has just taken the place of France as #1 on my s*it list. I'll include Holland too. Places I wouldn't visit if they gave the trip away free.

Do yourselves a favor America. If you want tropical paradise, go to Hawaii. Stay in your own country and you won't have to put up with the anti-American attitude.

It seems to me that Anti-Americanism may just be a factor in the supposed bungling of Natalee's case. I'm not entirely sure that it's unintentional.

Prayers for Natalee and her parents for comfort, justice, and a resolution of the case.

Yeah? Name one.

Looks like a recent attempt in Bermuda. No name, but it lends credence to the concept.

You're discounting the possibility of an accident or suicide? Either are possible, and as likely as some of the "kidnapped by a white slavery ring" theories.

Possible but highly unlikely. Some say spontaneous human combustion happens. Maybe that is it. Did anyone see any ashes on the beach and think someone had just made a small fire on the beach so they ignored it?

We can let our imaginations run wild but considering the circumstances and the character of the girl suicide and accident are way down on the list of probabilities.

An examination of the currents on that part of the island showed that you would have to be quite a ways out for the current not to bring a body back to shore. Accidental drowning does not fit that scenario. Suicide is about as likely as spontaneous combustion.

Though many things are possible it would seem best to concentrate on the most probable. She was last seen with the three boys. They lied about what happened. With them is where the answer most probably lies. If you are going to dream up possibilities start with that as a premise. Selling her fits all the criteria of no body, the time from leaving the club to the boys arriving home (according to them), and distances traveled from club to beach to home. We are talking about three hours or less from the time they left the club until her mother discovered her missing.

If the brothers dropped Holloway and Van der Sloot off when and where they said they did, what followed happened in an hour or less as the phone records show that Van der Sloot called to say he was home around 3:00 AM, I think. Not much time to try to make out, get rejected, go into a rage, kill her, dispose of the body, and hot foot it back home. Plenty of time to rendezvous with a boat, exchange her, and go home. The brothers could have easily been there, too.

Lots of possibilities.

Yes. many probabilities. But the fact remains that until there is no body, it will be very difficult to determine if a crime happened.

We have already achieved that, there is no body. I know you meant "since" there is no body instead of "until".

You are technically correct, maybe she is a runaway. However, if you are willing to forestall the purity of logic, it is evident a crime has been committed. The who, what, and how parts need to be determined but not the If.

DOH! I see the problem now. It's conjunction confusion.
