In that case, the New York Times is a campaign contribution, as are the major networks, and virtually the entire liberal media.

1st Amendment rights are inviolate for US Citizens. As are property rights, and the right to bear arms.
Seems to me we wouldn't have these issues if the press had managed to remain an honorable institution. Thank you New York Times, CBS, Newsweek, WaPa, etc.

Is this a trend to allow the left to try to silence Rush, Sean, Laura, Mark Levin, etc.?

"As could be this site."
I think it very likely this site will be targeted. We should actually be taking action already. I'm not sure what. Got a bad feeling about the way this is going. I think the Repubs could be spurred into legislative action, but it will take pressure. The problem is, limitations on freedom of speech tend to help incumbents.

If this is carried to its logical conclusion then a newspaper that prints an endorsement of a candidate is part of the campaign for that candidate, or initiative, or referendum.
But I think the court was only thinking about radio (for now) and laying the groundwork for the internet for later.

"This is an extremely important ruling that has very significant implications across the country for the First Amendment," warned Mark Lamb, one of two lawyers who represented Initiative 912 sponsors in Thurston County Superior Court against claims by opponents that the radio hosts' activities could be considered political contributions. As could my conversation with people over the counter at my store. However, first up for attack will likely be Limbaugh.

Well, we better talk "
real fast," before this site is no longer allowed.
The men in black are taking more control. Now speech=advocacy=campaign contributions=no freespeech= only the advocacy that the imperial guardians on the bench will allow.
I wonder when some of these characters are going to be hauled out to a necktie party.

A judge's ruling that two talk-radio hosts' on-air activity could be considered campaign contributions has attracted concern that the decision could have unintended effects on other media. In that case, the New York Times is a campaign contribution, as are the major networks, and virtually the entire liberal media.
Exactly what I thought.
This "ruling" is absolute, complete claptrap along the lines of the bogus SCOTUS private property ruling last week.
