Well sorry I just logged on and saw in on FNC, why do you think it's brilliant? Not that I disagree necessarily, I just haven't given it a lot of thought yet.

First, people like him, he's a likeable person. He comes accross as reasonable and people want a reasonable process.

Next, he can "act" like he is working with Democrats as a former senator and he will be all over TV for weeks debating Kennedy and Schumer...once again people will be attracted to his reasonableness vs. Kennedy and Schumer's hated filled venomous attacks.

Fred Thompson is a great guy. Many more know him for his role as the DA in Law & Order than for his politics. He is very eloquant and will be a wonderful face for the "WAR" on the court. Who's more likeable thus more convincing - Schumer and Kennedy or Fred Thompson.

Heck, I'd bet most people in the US think Thompson is really the tough DA of NYC

FWIW, Rush just said that it was a good idea to have Fred Thompson help with the candidate...

He said that Bush doesn't want the candidate left out by him/herself dangling, with arrows being shot by the dems and the MSM---so he figures if Thompson is used to "shepherd" the candidate through the process, it will help---

Look what happened to Miguel Estrada...he was kept dangling with no "support" and just had to quit waiting..
