They dont like us there..... Tough.

Their "spheres of influence" end at their national borders. Russia is not a super power any more and china is not one yet. We have bases in those nations only as long as said nations say we can stay. Not the pan Asia group aka the UN of the east. And if these two nations ask us to leave we will and yes it will be harder to stay in Afghanistan but we can make it work. Both China and Russia are not going to do a damn thing about it other then big talk on the side.

And the main reason China and Russia want us to pull out is so they can go back to pushing around the small states in that area like it is their private play ground of minerals. The main thing you have to remember is that it is damn hard to threaten a nation when it has members of the armed forces of the US based in country. No one wants a war over a pissing contest.

Do you think Karzai doesn't understand that Afghanistan's long term interests revolve around Russia, Iran, China, and India ? Not the US ? Why do you think he made such a big stink over that airstrike that killed 17 Afghan civilians ? He is distancing himself from the US now that the Taliban is winding down and working on improving his relations with the regional powers because he is in their sphere of interest. Not ours.

I don't care if Russia puts a puppet government in Afghanistan. Frankly, we never should have.

Their "spheres of influence" end at their national borders.

Are you saying that US "spheres of influence" have no limit and that the objective is to have troops in every country?
