I was watching the History Channel over the weekend.
Japan had jets. Knock offs of the ME 262, and one model that was faster. The jets were made for Carrier take off. If we had to do an invasion of the mainland their plan was to use the one jets off over modified transport ships and the others off the mainland. They traveled over 500mph and could operate at 37k feet. Our Navy would have never known what hit them and our bombers would have no defense against them.
1946 would have been a bad year if we did not drop the bomb.

We didn't have the ability to destroy those jets and the plants that made them? How many of them could they have had?
