Women are now the breadwinners and should be treated as such, as breadwinners used to be treated. Now that women outnumber men in college, in law school, in densitry, in vetinarian school, in grad school, and finally in medical school, educated women of the future will not only be the breadwinners, but will vastly out earn what uneducated unskilled men will be able to earn, esp after all the factories disappear.

When the male female earning power drastically changes into being lopsided the other way, with women outearning men the way men used to outearn women in the 1950's, a basic flip flop of roles would be expected, and certainly after womens "time" becomes worth so much more than mens time, women will have to give up all the menial unpaid tasks that they used to do - esp around the house.

Then in these cases, the men get custody of the children and alimony in the event of divorce? After all, it is a documented fact that children raised by fathers in motherless homes do much better than those raised without a father present.

Interestingly enough, universities still kvetch that -- although women postively infest humanities and arts faculties and the wussier sciences that men slightly outnumber women when calculus is required.

Thank God I'm no longer involved in this mess. I'm married, and older. But it is my observation, (guess? opinion?), that some of the characteristics of the traditional role models are genetic traits. Women are better at multi tasking, and nurturing. Men are better at linear thought and abstract problem solving.
Women will certainly be able to mold many men into househusbands. And then they will feel empty, wishing they had a man in the old style mold of a man.
Just my guess.

the way men used to outearn women in the 1950's

That is a myth that has been busted up by this fascinating book. Written by a past board member of the NOW and the preface written by a past president of the same group, I was pleasantly shocked at their findings.

Fantastic. Where do I go to get my ovaries installed?

Don't wish for things you don't really understand. For example, you are going to find out that the argument 'working is a form of showing love to your family' doesn't stand up in family court.

Then there is the funny-happy alimony/child support game where you'll be expected to part with most of your net worth because Dad went and did the horizontal mambo with the pool girl or the babysitter.

They'll start shopping, and getting together at their kid's social events and gossip like a bunch of adders in a pit (been there - unbelievable).

This is going to be a new age - economic power meets histrionic venality to form a kinder, gentler ruler of the world.

Margaret Thacher excepted, of course.

Purely conjecture on your part.

Thank you.

So I guess this means women will have to change tires, take out the garbage and 'date below there social status'?

Glad you cleared that up for me.

LOL

I thank God and my husband that I get to stay home and be "everything" to our children, while he goes to "bring home the bread". I get hugs and kisses while he gets the butt-chewings, etc. Would I trade positions to receive his treatment? Not on your life!!
