More backlash (albeit limp-wristed) against the "War on Males" sponsored and egged-on by feminists.

I'm a 55 year-old man, widowed 1-1/2 years ago. I am financially secure, my three kids are mostly raised and my home is paid for, I will be able to retire in about 4 years and wouldn't think of getting married again. I had 29 wonderful years and in those nearly three dacades the social marketplace has changed a whole lot. When I was in my 20's the guys chased the women. Not now. I got hit on at my wife's wake, I was invited to a woman's summer home for a weekend 20 minutes after I met her. I'm not bragging and I know other widowers who have similar stories.

If a man has a job or financial security, looks okay and is not deep in debt he is considered prime. I'm going to enjoy the situation and make it plain that marriage is something I did and did well but I'm not doing it again.

If you treat all men as selfish, insensitive, lazy, lying, feckless, incompetent scumbags, you should not be surprised if that is what they turn out to be.

Sounds so familiar.

I agree women and men have to come together and be supportive of each other. Been married to a terrific guy for 22 years. Wouldn't trade him for the world.

"Most of all, it is time for the negative stereotyping to go. I know women will say: "But it's true!" If so, then marriage certainly is doomed."

Same goes for men stereotyping is on both sides of the fence, this thread is a perfect example of that

I am very saddened by what is happening to marriage during this decade.

In most cases you'll always fund a supporting woman behind every man's success.
The travesty is that given the current standard's, most women supporting a man
in a career are lambasted for being a sellout, or worse.

Bash away.

"In the US, according to the latest time-use survey from the bureau of labour statistics, employed women spend on average an hour a day more than employed men on housework and childcare; but employed men spend an hour a day longer doing paid work."

I think one message has to get out: When you divorce, you divorce not your spouse, but your family (and it doesn't matter who "gets" the kids). Ask the children of divorced parents, they'll tell you. Fortunately, this factor has convinced many of the generation now entering adulthood that they need to put more work into the relationship before marriage, to ensure that they will never do the same to their own children.

I wish someone would post a picture of a typical 50 year old man and typical 50 year old women. Then I can justify why men cheat (more).

Why would any woman, marry a man like that?

Conservative women know better.

Rather spend life alone with my poodle than with one of those described.

Ever dated a Feminazi. YUK.

I did when I was single.

Worst time I ever had.

They talk tough on men but are usually so insecure they bow to every other pressure around them.

There isn't much in here that would help the normal conflicted marriage. They wouldn't be able to hear it.

For the fair to decent marriage, they might learn something about fairly balancing the load.
