IN A nutshell, Ahmadinejad is the personification of everything that the US and its erstwhile European allies claim that the war against global terrorism is seeking to defeat. He is a religious fanatic, a terror commander with global reach who seeks to destabilize the world and he is planning a no holds barred sprint to the finish line of Iran's race to acquire nuclear weapons which, he promises, will be used to protect the entire Islamic world.

Fine. So the Iranians have chosen yet another nut, and one who is an unregenerate terrorist -- and the Iranians are well on their way to nuclear weapons.

Time is growing all too short to exercise military force; it would have been wiser to have done so when the mullahs started the remarkably insane raving back in the fall.

Letting folks whose Friday prayers include "Death to America" have nuclear weapons is not smart on our part. Even letting them get this close is unwise.
