"U.S. Rep. Spencer Bachus, R-Vestavia Hills, said Saturday there were circumstances surrounding Holloway's disappearance that warranted the FBI being heavily involved....................."The circumstances were disturbing," said Bachus, who formally requested the FBI's involvement. "I can't get into it, but it's something the family is aware of"
Posts 59 and 60 on this thread are intriguing, esp considering the above:

I am at work and did not see the news conference, but want to say this. Beth Twitty KNOWS more than we do. She got a call, or somehow heard a call, originating from a cell phone, apparently during the hours Natalee went missing. That call made her believe with all of her heart that Natalee was in trouble, even kidnapped for all we know. I believe the call could have actually been FROM Natalee. Bets can't tell what she knows. But she does know something concrete. That is apparent by her actions, by getting the FBI involved, by tracking down the cell phone providor, and by her firm stance that the right people were in custody. She did not want the secirity guards in jail. She knew that was a red herring.
Since Beth is there and knows what she knows, I will defer to her. When we all find out what is really going on, I think her actions will make more sense.
When do you think we will ever find out what's going on, HoHoe?
I've had my back to the TV, checking on something here on FR.
Fox just announced, FBI national office has reviewed Sen. Shelby's request for help. Nothing more is forthcoming at this point. Caught between a rock and a hard place because Aruba hasn't asked for it!!!
It was not the American media presence that hinder the case. It was not even the on-site media reporters that were/are the problem with the exception of Geraldo.
I do give all other on-site American reporters kudos. Even they got a little pissed at being over talked and interrupted by the likes of O'Reilly.
Yes Geraldo, Bill O'Reilly, and Hannity reported incorrect, untrue, exaggerated, intrusive, bellowing reports. Which imho makes us (Americans) look bad.
Also imho not only this case but also our own homegrown cases these same media talking heads among others are all out of line. A certain % of the time they are not reporting the news, they are making it up as they go.
I guess some don't mine because they see it as a form of entertainment.
It won't be so entertaining if we were in some of these people shoes.
Catherine Etheridge (sp?) Fox News reporting that the FBI says there are not a whole lot of forensic evidence in this case. Thats were they could have offered their expertise.
Lizarde you may want others to know that your post #207 is only rumors. That info has not been confirmed. That is more or less someone's theory that has passed through 3 or more different sites.
I am also looking for info on Ben Volcing, aka Ben King, Dirty Hand, Babylon if you happen to run across any.
"The Dutch system clearly gives their "suspects" far fewer rights than does ours; and IF any of these suspects are guilty of a crime, more likely the Dutch system will ferret it out of them than would ours. If this incident had occurred in America, I'm quite sure none of the so-called suspects we know of would have been jailed, interrogated or had their homes, cars, or cell phone records searched."
BS. Our system relies heavily on forensics. The damn dutch don't have a clue!
Where are those Trapenberg admirers?
Come out, come out, whereever you are!!
Yep, Fox News just reported that Reuben Trappenberg just said that the Kalpoe brothers are free to leave Aruba on Thursday. Guess it's official now....
Trapenberg says Kalpoe's are free to leave island!
The Arubans have not only botched the investigation, but have also hindered it in some areas. Why O why have the Dutch marines not been helping to date? That is but one example.
I guess we're all watching the same channel. lol
Frankly, I think everyone (other countries and their citizens) already hate America. It's like some sort of nationalistic penis envy. Although, some minority might like us because they have relatives here, the rest never have and never will.
Also, I think the reason the Arubans, in particularly, hate us is they know they are dependent on U.S. tourism. There attitude is passive-agressive. They need our money, but they don't mind if Aruban men abuse American female tourists. It's similar to (but much worse than) the attitude that year-round residents of U.S. tourist locales have toward the summer residents and vacationers. Smiling on the outside, seething on the inside.
I hope the press steps all over Aruba, because Aruba is protecting is own.
