You raise in interesting scenario. Bush has done nothing about border security. He was too busy making nice with Mexican President Vincente Fox. Our borders are wide open. Terrorists cross over disguised as Mexicans every day (no big deal: just shave off a beard leaving a mustache). When they sneak into San Diego or El Paso they just say, "No habla, senior."

I'd bet my last dollar that this issue has already been poll-tested with swing state voters. The Clintons don't operate on principle.
