I guess the bottom line here is that I'm glad that he was caught and I hope that his punishment is swift and severe. Unfortunately, it won't be as severe as I'd like it to be.
Is child molestation a
crime so minor and common that it warrants a $15000 bail to begin with.Seems so in that town in Minnesota but I may be missing something...

That is the question that should take up much time on the Cable "news" networks, replacing shark attack reports and reporters holidaying in Aruba.
Not proven, as yet. I base my opinions on what we know to be true at this time, not what might, or might not be proven at a later date. Regardless, even if the reamins are that of Dylan Groene, he may have been killed in Cour D'Alene Idaho, and the body dumped there afterwards. This means that all the crimes would be "local", no real interstate involvement, which has been my point all along...

Yes, that's why I phrased it the way I did.
I read something on one of these threads, something he wrote on his blog about longing for companionship. My thought has been that he kept the girl as a companion. Being female, he was not sexually attracted to her. She was an obedient companion to keep him from being lonely. He has huge mother issues too.
While a possibility, he held Shasta for some time, probably the entire six weeks. This begs the question: Why would he hold onto such a dangerous "commodity" for so long?
There is much to this sordid and tragic story that only Mr Duncan can provide, but he isn't talking. There are a *lot* of unanswered questions here, and getting to the bottom of the whole mess is something I don't envy law enforcement...

The only one DIRECTLY responsible is the kidnapper and killer.
If the guy was a meth freak, like posters have been saying, there isn't much in his body that anyone else could use. That stuff eats you alive.
That sick, freaking maniac!
I didn't hear about this. I can guess the outcome, though. NAMBLA dirtbags have more rights than innocent children. Think I'll do a little googling on the detective who infiltrated them. I couldn't imagine a more distastful job : (
Just exterminate them.
That's why there's life without parole, although that's what all "life" sentences should be.
Is there no National Register for Sex Offenders? If not, then they can just keep moving around getting charged with crimes, and if there is no record, the Judges will continue to do as this judge did.
There's plenty of blame to go around on this on as in many others. If the prosecutor didn't know the history he should have. If he knew and didn't tell the judge he should really be hammered. We don't know who knew what or what was presented. The person who made the final decision, the judge of course, is ultimately responsible. If you think that it's the job of a judge to maintain his ignorance in these matters I guess you'll excuse him. So far he seems to be living up to your expectations.
Obviously this needs to happen.
At the very least, there should be a strict no-bail law for any sexual charge, first offense or not. I'd think that would cut down some on this evil going on.
That's bogus. I don't believe the judge didn't know.
Someone surely ought to have seen the blog and could have reported him.
A family member who lives in Missouri seems to know something as well by his posts on the blog comments.
What's that saying? Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it's mistakes.
