While British cuisine is hardly anything to write home about (rather plain, not so much cuisine as just "food"), on the other hand I positively detest French cooking. I'll take bland, soulless English victuals over haughty, overseasoned French entrées any day.
They do have good wine, but their food is vastly overrated, IMHO. Chacun à son goût, I guess.
