(Hartford-WTNH, July 3, 2005 7:00 PM) _ On this holiday weekend, thousands of Muslims gather in Hartford to learn more about living in America and still maintaining their faith.
Abdul Quadir Brula's family travelled from Albany, New York to Hartford today in search of answers.
"This is very important," says Abdul Quadir Brula.
Quadir Brula's family, and thousands of other Muslims are facing a huge challenge; how to bring up a family according to Islamic principles, while living in the United States as a US citizen.
"There are a few difficulties as well which we have to cope with."
Difficulties like their boys not participating in birthday parties at school because it's forbidden by Islam.
"There are many difficulties especially in public schools because there are many differences between US and Americans," says Huma Quadir, Albany, NY.
So this weekend more than 5,000 Muslims will listen to guest speakers, interactive messages.
"Islam is grossly misunderstood"
And shop among the 250-vendors inside the Connecticut Convention Center. All if it part of the Islamic Circle of North America Convention.
Ever since the terrorist attacks on September 11th of 2001, many Muslims say they feel shunned because of cultural needs many restaurants in Hartford were guided as to which foods the convention goers could eat.
And separate dining areas were set up in the convention center for Muslim men and women.

Muslims would do well to adapt to American customs, ethics, and mores instead of demanding the US bend over backwards for them.

"Islam is grossly misunderstood"That's true. Most people have no idea just how committed and dedicated to killing us the jihadists (most of whom are Muslim) really are.

Like allowing your brother to rape your pre-teen daughter and then murdering HER to defend the honor of the family.

...how to bring up a family according to Islamic principles, while living in the United States as a US citizen. Are all muslims as backward as this guy?
American constitutional principles are used in this country, not barbaric Islamic principles.

Oh great. Now that this has made print look for some whiners to push a ban on any acknowedgement of a birthday in public schools. Remember, we must all be sensitive to their feelings. Other than praying and murdering nonbelievers, is there anything that Islam does not ban?

Absolutely right.
Our country was founded in part on the "melting pot" principle. You don't bring your way of life over here and reestablish, you melt in.
Sadly thanks to the left, and their anything goes anytime anywhere attitude of govt. this concept is rapidly being diluted.

"There are a few difficulties as well which we have to cope with." Right, like for instance why you di*kheads don't publicly condemn the savagery being perpetrated upon others by Islamist radicals in the name of your "Religion of Peace"

uh.. wrong, birthday parties are not "forbidden" by Islam. If that is not the reporter's fault, someone better check on what version of Islam is at this convention.

"Why muslims don't condemn savagery by other muslims"
That is a huge point that says volumes, major league character deficiencies.

If it is all that much trouble, they should just go back to the sand box they came from. Be good for all concerned.

"There are many difficulties especially in public schools because there are many differences between us and Americans," says Huma Quadir, Albany, NY. And here lies the problem... You're not an American, and if you are you don't want to be. You come to America but you don't want to be American. You want to destroy what was here before and convert it to the hell hole you came from.
There it is in a nutshell...

There was a small piece in the Houston Comical yesterday about a Muslim girl who was feeling bad about being an American. Then she dropped her keys while exercising at the gym. They were picked up and handed back to her by a sweaty Al Gore. That small kindness by a famous person made her re think her American citizenship. Now it is glorious to be an American!
Give me a break! What rot! If her keys had been picked up by an overweight housewife or a retired grocery clerk she would still be feeling bad about America?
