It costs us twice......once to pay for the obviously flawed public education - and then for the employers to reeducate. In this case - the States
How about a refund from the public education system?
As a professional writer myself, I am constantly amazed by the growing number of people who ain't able to write good.

An essay on writing good
The issues involving writing good has been a popular topic amongst scholars for many years. There are many factors which influenced the development of writing good. Cited by many as the single most important influence on post modern micro eco compartmentalism, writing good is featuring more and more in the ideals of the young and upwardly mobile. It is estimated that that writing good is thought about eight times every day by global commercial enterprises, who form the last great hope for our civilzation. At the heart of the subject are a number of key factors. I plan to examine each of these factors in detail and and asses their importance.
Social Factors
While some scholars have claimed that there is no such thing as society, this is rubbish. When J H Darcy said 'fevour will spread' [1] she was clearly refering to the impact of writing good on today's society. No symbol is more potent than writing good in society today. It demonstrates a coherent approach, something so lacking in our culture, that it is not recognised by all.
Nothing represents every day life better than writing good, and I mean nothing. If society has a favourite child, it is writing good.
Economic Factors
Our world is driven by supply and demand. We will begin by looking at the Simple-Many-Pies model, as is standard in this case.
Average Wage writing goodThere is no longer a need to argue the importance of writing good, it is clear to see that the results speak for themselves. The question which surfaces now is, how? In spite of the best efforts of The World Bank the average wage sings a very different tune. Supply Side Economic Tax Cuts Tax deductions could turn out to be a risky tactic.
Political Factors
Politics has in some areas been seen to embrace an increasing ananiathesis of intergovernmentalism leading to neo-functionalism. Comparing the electoral politics of most Western and Eastern European countries is like comparing writing goodism and post-writing goodism.
In the words of award winning journalist Kuuipo Bootlegger 'Taking a walk across hot coals will inevitably hurt your feet.' [2] I argue that his insight into writing good provided the inspiration for these great words. If our political system can be seen as a cake, then writing good makes a good case for being the icing. Since the Renaissance writing good has become more and more prevalent. May it continue.
Conclusion
To reiterate, writing good is both a need and a want. It establishes order, it stimulates and never hides.
One final thought from the talented Mariah Hanks: 'writing good is the new rock and roll! And the new opera!' [3]

Whoever wrote the 2nd Amendment should have taken some Plain Language courses.
Unfortunately it is many a Freeper who uses poorly constructed sentences, spelling atrocities and bad grammar.
MAN! Did someone actually write that thing?
DANG!
Thanks NEA - I bet they can all put a condom an a banana.
Maybe they stutter?

WHY I WANT TO BE A PEDIATRIC (BABY) MARINE BIOLOGIST :-) [College Admission Essay]
Hi! :-)
I want to be a pediatric (baby) marine biologist because I like the ocean, small things, and animals. :-)
Every summer my family and I go to our summer house for July and August and it is near the ocean. This is in Woods Hole, Massachusetts, where there is even a marine biologist museum, and the people inside the museum have cool clothes and they always have shoes that you can't get anywhere else. I call them Marine Biologist shoes. :-)
By the way, I was looking in your course catalog for the marine biologist courses and those courses seem to involve working with fish or things like fish. :-(
I'm not really all that interested in fish, I mean I'll take the required fish courses, but what I am really interested in is animals that live in or near the water, except fish. :-(
I like seals, especially baby seals, :-) and whales :-) (Free Willy was so cool, except or part II), and even wet kittens and other small things, like baby dolphins :-)(are they fish? :-\). That's why I want to specialize in being a pediatric marine biologist, because animals are cuter when they are little, and probably easier to study. :-)
Call me Rachel,
The Future Pediatric Marine Biologist :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
The essay is a good idea. Formulaic and coachable are not big problems. Most people cannot be coached to meet even formulaic standards. If students got good enough to meet them, they'd be way ahead of the pack.
I'm up early rewriting a client's book ...client is a PhD, knows his topic, cannot put two sentences together. PhDs are notoriously bad writers. Teachers are even worse. Who's going to coach the SAT takers? And who's going to grade the tests?
How To Write a TERRIBLE Admission Essay
From Ajeet Khurana
It could be ignorance, or it could be sheer lack of creativity. But, I come across these common essay disasters all the time. Here are things you would do to write a really really bad essay.
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: a few days
Here's How:
1. Get your friends' essays that worked last year, modify them and pass them on as your own writing.
2. Surf up free essay samples and make them your own.
3. Use a lot of buzzwords to show how in you are with things - globalization, megatrends, intrapreneurship, disruption, convergence, synergies...
4. Include a lot of acronyms to demonstrate your competence - .NET, G2C, WAP, XML...
5. Throw in a lot of business jargon. After all you are applying to business school - MBO, corporate governance, core competence, competitive advantage...
6. Add platitudes to show how wise you really are - give and take, win-win, enable success, management is the art of getting things done...
7. Use the thesaurus extensively to flowerize your language and demonstrate superior communication skills ameliorate, behoove, supererogatory, accoutrement...
8. Pick up stuff right from admission material. Might as well tell the colleges to read their own brochures, rather than have them ask questions like Why do you want to join us?
9. Pay essay writers and trust them to do the job. What do they know about you? Getting someone else to write effectively for you can be tougher than writing it up yourself.
10. Have great essays for all essay questions, but make them sound like they are talking about different people.
What You Need:
* Lots of laziness
* Lack of common sense
* Lack of seriousness
* No clear career goal
* Poor communication
In partial defense of their writing skills, in most cases, the ideas the government "workers" are attempting to convert into words suck as well.
The final language of the 2nd Amendment was the result of negotiation (akin to getting a Camel when a committee designs a Horse). The Federalist Papers give a pretty good account of all the different versions that were proposed. But the one thing they all had in common was that the Right To Keep And Bear Arms was an individual right, not a 'state' right.
And since you mention the 2nd Amendment, I find it highly hypocritical of the leftist gun grabbers who wail away that that Bill of Rights are all individual Rights - except for the 2nd (amazing leap of non logic). And also in the recent brouhaha in the Senate when the RATS would cite the Federalist Papers yet when it come to the 2nd Amendment, the Federalist Papers are not to be mentioned and in fact ignored.
The amount of grammer and usage errors today is astounding. Not to mention spelling. If I was a teacher, Id feel badly that less and less students seem to understand the basic principals of good writing. Neither the oldest high school students nor the youngest kindergartner know proper usage. A student often thinks they can depend on word processing programs to correct theyre errors. Know way!
Watching TV all the time, its easy to see why their having trouble. TV interferes with them studying and its strong affect on children has alot to due with their grades. Theres other factors, too, including the indifference of parents like you and I. A Mom or Dad often doesnt know grammer themselves. We should tell are children to study hard like we did at theyre age and to watch less TV then their classmates.
