I do not believe the McCain-Kennedy amnesty bill, which is co-sponsored by Sen. Brownback will pass the United States Senate. I certainly don't think there is any chance the House version of it will pass. I also don't believe that the Kyl-Cornyn plan to give legal status to illegal aliens will pass the United States Senate. I don't think any legislation will pass this year that gives legal status to illegal aliens.

I would enjoy seeing Cong. Tom Tancredo debate any of the Republican senators or representatives that intend to vote for any legislation that give legal status to illegal aliens.

Illegal aliens should voluntarily return to their home country or be deported.

"continue to get government freebes. "

What freebies. The only two I know of in Texas are WIC and ERs. Federal law prohibits immigrasnts from getting Medicaid, AFDC or other freebies for at least five years. They only get WIC because the baby is a citizen.

Now some local municipalities, churches and private charities provide assistance but that's a local decision.

Don't you know that if they were getting welfare such as food stamps and housing that the antis would be screamimg their lungs out?

As if to claim that all landlords can make their tax liabilities in vacant rental units. Who do you think pays corporate income taxes? The consumers of their products do, that's who. The costs of doing business are routinely passed along in any business.

I would like to congratulate you on being properly learned. You aren't bothered by the racism in illegals but when it shows up in whites you find it abhorent.

If your average renter is paying you $200 a month for property taxes, it doesn't sound like your renting a basement out to 40 or more undocumented immigrants.
If you're in California, that $200 per month equates to a minimum property value of $200,000+ and that's if you bought it yesterday. Your rental units are far from a financial match of the typical profile of the dirt poor undocumented immigrant.

I have to agree that some undocumented or illegal immigrants do pay some tax.
But rarely.
I want to believe the advocates for the illegals aren't lying when they constantly report that the illegals live in poverty, barely surviving.

Sure they pay sales tax on beer, cigarettes, and other necessities.
Some of them even pay the $10 fee to get a bogus driver's license.
And if they have a car or truck, registered/insured or not, when they buy gas they're also forced to pay sales tax, and federal excise tax.
One could compute an indirect property tax in the event they pay rent on a taxable situs. But 40 guys paying $50 rent each for space in a basement, garage, room, or whatever--would amount to almost nil.

But when "Immigrant Advocates" add up the likes of token sales tax, fees, gas excise tax, indirect property taxes and call them bonafide taxpayers--That is quite a stretch.

And that part about paying more in than they take out, that be pure propoganda.

More word games. The money doesn't come from thin air. It's built into the rent. You must be a renter if you think landlords don't have to factor ad valorum taxes into the rental. I have several rentals and the average tax that renters are paying per month is close to $200.00. If a landlord didn't include taxes in the rent he would come out far ahead by liquidating and investing in securities.

LOL, talk about word games. Most tenants don't have a clue that their landlord uses a part of their rent money to pay his property taxes. A tenant pays his monthly rent because that's what he agreed to do when he signed the lease on the apartment. Tenants couldn't care less what the landlord does with the money after they pay their rent.

But let's take it a step further. Where do tenants typically get the money to pay their rent? From their paychecks through their employers. So I guess it would be fair to say that the tenants' employers help pay the tenants' landlords' property taxes.

Let's take it even one more step further. Where do the tenants' employers get the money to pay their employees' salaries? From the income of the business which is mainly derived from the paying customers of the business. So it guess it would be fair to say that the tenants' employers' customers help pay the tenants' landlords' property taxes.

You can spin it as much as you want, but it doesn't change the fact that renters do not pay property taxes. Only individuals who own property, and who receive the property tax bill in the mail, pay property taxes.

Absolutely correct. For about three years I managed a white elephant property that my Dad inherited from my Grandfather. It was a quite large old Montgomery Wards building with no parking which I finally managed to sell for about the value of the lot that it was sitting on less the cost of demolishing the building and hauling away the rubble. During the years that I was trying to sell it, I had to pay utility bills to keep it from freezing up and pay fairly hefty tax bills and quite a few other expenses. Sometimes I was able to rent the main floor but nobody was interested in the basement or the upper three floors which remained vacant. Mostly the businesses that rented it were marginal and none lasted so the building was frequently vacant. Needless to say it was an unprofitable venture and I was very pleased when it was finally turned back into cash.

Of one thing I am certain: property owners pay property taxes; renters pay only rent. Property taxes in some cases can exceed the rent.
