I really don't care what the special interest groups say. They are determined to act as vitriolic as possible, in order to justify the money they receive from donors.

Gonzalez won't be the nominee, because he would have to recuse himself from too many cases which started while he was Counsel to the President.

Of course, when the President picks someone other than Gonzalez, these groups will tout their "influence" in picking a SC nominee.

Pbbt! I don't care what these people say.

Gonzalez won't be the nominee,

I think you are correct as far as this nomination is concerned......

But.... Don't rule out a later one especially if it comes late in his term, say 08. These one issue 'pure, true, only' conservatives may just get it jammed back in their face.

If President Bush sees something in Gonzales that he especially likes/respects then he may well place him in the mix. Remember President Bush has been associated with Gonzales since 1994 when he became his confidant as Governor of Texas.

Gonzalez will probably be appointed to take Stevens' place when the time comes.

I care what they say. If Bush thumbs his nose at conservatives again, on this most important issue, there will be a Democrat in the White House in 2009.
