To All of the Troops:

Our sermon at Church today was about possibly diminishing the typical 4th of July fireworks and picnics in our thoughts, and rather to remember the blood of troops through the ages shed to keep us free. Much like the original blood of Christ was shed for our spiritual freedom, while similar to what you are doing for our physical freedom now through your own blood and sacrifices in Iraq and Afghanistan, and other places where our troops have been placed.

How can we ever thank you enough for what you are doing?

Our entire Church, and our entire community rally around your efforts daily, despite what you may hear from 'main stream media'. This is the heartland of America, and we support you and what you continue to do for us to keep us safe, and to keep these battles far from our shores.

God Bless our troops on the 4th and always!

Last evening my husband and I watched our son's summer league team play baseball in Petersburg, Va., and the park was hosting "Military Appreciation Night." There were probably close to 200 young men and women in BDUs there - most very young, probably my son's age (20). After the game, there were beautiful fireworks.

I watched with fascination all night as these young soldiers enjoyed themselves thoroughly. Many of them bought snowcones and icies, and two came close to winning a new car! They cheered outstanding plays and booed unpopular calls. During the fireworks, their faces were upturned with awe and excitement. Near the end of the evening, all of the other fans applauded the military guests.

Watching them, I said a prayer of thanks for all of our brave men and women, most especially for those in Iraq and Afghanistan. I also prayed for the safe return to families for all.

Thank you, brave Americans, for all you do to keep us safe. God Bless.
(Sorry so long. This is my first post.)
