The authors have requested wide-spread dissemination of this article PRIOR to the event as they are making specific predictions of events scheduled to occur tonight.
"It's a pretty complete analysis with a number of predictions. Considering the many ramifications, we'd appreciate any help in getting the message out to other Internet discussion groups and email lists."

I predict it will accidentally start a war with China.

I predict that the ice blown away will be sent at every random direction at high speeds. Some will head into Earth's atmosphere.
Upon entering, it will vaporize and remain floating until weather factors cause it to eventually mix with clouds and it will fall as rain or snow.
The rain or snow containing this dust will land, eventually, onto a cemetary.
I predict....Zombies.
(I predicted zombies on December 31, 1999 as well. I still have plenty of ammunition left over.)

Instead of that impactor we should have sent hillary - to take possession. Besides, her impact would be much destructive for the comet, and would eject more.

The "electric comet" theory brings to mind something I read in "Worlds in collision" by Immanuel Velikovski (spelling?) years back.
Much damage was at one time done to this planet due to a massive electric discharge between earth and another body.
Interesting stuff. If deep impact hits a massive charged particle, rather than a hunk of ice/stone, I shall begin to dig for this book.
What a flash that would make.
