Motorcyclist recovering from injuries after plastic wrap prank

July 3, 2005 - 9:47AM WYOMING (AP) - A western Michigan motorcyclist is recovering from injuries after crashing into plastic wrap that had been stretched across a roadway as a prank.

Jim Anderson suffered a fractured rib and internal bruises after he hit the industrial-strength wrap at about 1:20 a.m. Saturday while riding his Harley Davidson home. The 48 year old said he thought the plastic wrap was fog.

Wyoming, Michigan Police say three teenage boys told police they put the wrap between two sign posts as a prank not expecting something as small as a motorcycle to come down the street.

Police haven't decided whether to charge them.

And I thought it hurt when you hit a wasp while you are riding a bike

Yeah, that seemed odd to me as well. I think one of the kids belongs to the police chief or DA.

Um yeah. One Halloween the neighborhood dopes strung toilet paper across a small bridge on the local farm-to-market road. Guy swerved to miss what he thought were boards nailed across it and went into the creek. Tore-up car, busted-up driver. A good time was had by all, I guess.

Charge them?

Like a Bull Elephant on the Safari?

Or recommend prosecution to the D.A. for a Grand Jury Indictment??

I think the victim should press charges.

This is the SECOND FR story of this type of a stupid prank.

Imagine if this had been a light school bus with children...

Imagine if this had been a ambulance with someone hanging on by a thread...

At the very least the rider should look into suing the kids under the homeowners issurance policy. Even if all he has these kids do is 10,000 hours of community service at a VFW or American Legion.

my friends, in their misspent youth would go "burgering"...

One of them worked at McDonald's, and he would take all the thrown out burgers at night, and a couple of them would go to over pass and throw burgers at unsuspecting cars.

They did that until they nailed a cop... and decided that it wasn't worth the risk.

Pretty much, all of these guys have served jail time at one time or another.

We have all kicked our heels a little too high at one time or another, but there are consequences to what you do. These kids need to know that.

By the way, when I went to the opening of the new Police station here in town I was amazed that I could be that close to that many cops without my wrists hurting.

I know a beetle hurts like anything. If I were this guy I would sue the three kids just for the principle of it. And they should be charged with something serious

Wonder why they thought it was a "harmless" prank? Haven't they seen those Saran Wrap and Cling Wrap commercials? According to them, that wrap could have stopped a tanker truck! Wile E. Coyote will be trying to order some plastic wrap from Acme.

"Police haven't decided whether to charge them." ... ?????

--------

Is It ANY WONDER why our prisons are full of those who Believe that committing their crime was worth the risk ?? WE are soft on crime. WE cut sentences in half for "good behavior". State Prisons have luxuries & accommodations unseen in many parts of the world. The sappy, wishy-washy LIBERALS even extend "compassion" to the Murdering Terrorist down at GITMO ..... EERRrrrrrrrrrr .........

The most aggravating part ? The LIB's believe that Incarceration should be a means to "rehabilitate", and try to express Forgiveness, that it is "society" that has made them into monsters- it's just not their fault ! WH ..WH..WHHHAAAAAAAA

Let's start using it for what it was designed for- PUNISHMENT !!!

We use this stuff at work for wrapping all kinds of things to pallets. A few months ago, we had some water heaters fall off their pallet, but the wrap kept all four of them suspended in the air until we could get a forklift over and pull the pallet down. If these idiots wrapped this across the street eight or nine times, that must have been like hitting a brick wall.

Not me.

My worst offense in life is a failure to love strongly enough.
