Well, the doctor at the right hand side of bin Laden, Zawahiri (sp?) was jailed in Egypt, as I remember for being part of the plot by the Muslim Brotherhood for the assination of Sadat.

See this:

Al-Qaeda known members and friends

*************************************************************

Emir General

Osama Bin Laden
Known as "the prince" and "the emir," is the most visible leader. Born in Saudi Arabia in 1957, he is the 17th son of 51 children of Muhammad bin Laden, who left bin Laden with a fortune from the construction company he owned.

Top Lieutenant

Ayman al-Zawahiri aka “The Doctor’’

Egyptian co-founder and member of the religious committee who is dedicated to the overthrow of the Egyptian government. The leader of the Egyptian Islamic Jihad, which was responsible for the assination of Anwar Sadat and attempted murder of Pres. Hosni Mubarak

Negotiating 'terms': Big $$$$ plus a withdrawal of any recognition of Iraq's new govt. as long as US forces are there/or terrorists aren't in control of Iraq.

Debka.com is pontificating that the kidnapping of al-Sherif is actually a positive development. They believe he was assisting in ongoing talks between Sunni insurgents and Coalition forces which were making solid progress, and his kidnapping was done by al-Qaida to thwart that progress. They also point to Putin's sudden call for other nation's to help the US in Iraq that the insurgency is winding down. Interesting stuff.

"What boggles my mind is that now they're turning on the people that are most likely to help them."

Well, let's cut Egypt's aid then. We could urinate on ten pennies and donate that.

If true, I take back what I said. We should be very sympathetic and take their silly gripings then, if true. FRegards....

"COuld you imagine if the Egyptians suddenly decided they wanted to play in Iraq and volunteered to send tropps to join us?"

Ugh, having lived in Egypt for several years I know that is one way to assisst the terrorists/insurgents.
