When do you call up? Do you call over and over to get through?

We can give credit to Rush for all this and giving us that voice that is changing our country for the better.

Keep the light burning.

I agree. Thanks for reading, RS. I appreciate it.

I try (it doesn't always work) to time my call just before the other caller hangs up. Remember, there's a four second delay between the actual call and the call one hears on the radio.

No, thank YOU. Keep up the good work. You will make a name for yourself and if you pattern yourself after such a great role model such as Rush you will go far. :) All the best.

"Rush Limbaugh follows in the footsteps of giants, such as George Washington, Thomas Paine, and Ronald Reagan..."

I like Rush and he is good for America, in general, and the conservative cause, in particular. BUT.. and yes, there is a "but"... let's not get carried away. I have a hard time elevating a thrice divorced, ex-pill popping radio DJ into the same class as Washington, Paine, and perhaps the greatest of them all, Reagan. Rush is an entertainer, and if he could have made $100 million promoting liberal causes, then he would be sitting behind the mic over at Air Amercia. And unlike Washington, Piane, and Reagan, who put there lives on the line for their Country, Rush's primary sacrifice is giving up a tee time from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Monday though Friday.

Rush is an entertainer, and if he could have made $100 million promoting liberal causes, then he would be sitting behind the mic over at Air Amercia. George Washington held slaves. An example of acceptable behavior of that time. I can assure you he wasn't a perfect human being. Divorce wasn't acceptable in those days, but slavery was, even if some of the Founding Fathers thought better of it.

Your statements tell me that you don't know much about Limbaugh's history or lineage. Had he failed as a conservative talk radio host, he certainly wouldn't have turned to liberal radio.

His father, Rush Limbaugh, Jr, was as conservative as they come. He wasn't known nationally and he sired two sons, which make the Limbaugh name proud.

It would be hard to compare anyone to the Founding Fathers, but they are known for their words followed by actions. There were many Americans, not known, that risked everything because they were inspired by George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, and many others.

Those actions by unknown Americans help back up those words found in the Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution. George Washington and Thomas Paine risked it all for a notion of a better country, an idea which formed America. All of this done at the time when only 30% of Americans supported the war effort.

Limbaugh operates in the same arena. The arena of ideas. The idea that conservatism is the basis upon which the country was founded. His is a battle in which every mainstream media component disagrees and he continues to thrive because of "unknown" Americans that support him and the ideology upon which he lays his foundation.

In a sense, Limbaugh's battle is tougher because he doesn't fight a specific entity. He battles a million Democratic Undergrounds, a thousand MoveOn.org's and millions of apathetic voters. In his imperfection, he battles an ideology that wishes to strip power from the people and he does it all with a smile.

Despite his flaws, he inspires individuals through his words, creating grass roots activism in support of conservatism. And in that context, he follows in the footsteps of giants, such as Washington, Paine and Reagan. Men who's words led to actions by the "unknown" Americans. Men who risked all they had to advance America through it's founding ideology: conservatism.

So, he comes under assault by the morality police because he's flawed. Those individuals tend to forget that the Founding Fathers weren't perfect, nor was Ronald Reagan, but they inspired individuals to work, to live and to breathe conservatism.

History didn't judge Ronald Reagan as being an actor that was a friend to a man that tried to join the Communist Party. It judged him for something much better. Something founded upon the principles of the Founding Fathers, those ideas that became America. The ideas that link Limbaugh to Ronald Reagan and the Founding Fathers.

But thanks for reading it anyway.

If Rush was perfect in his life, the same people would say they could not respect him for having smoked, having bad hair, no hair, neckties which were too loud, too quiet...

I don't think even I could live up to that billing. Thanks for the nice comments, but I wrote this because people and the morality police forget exactly what Rush has accomplished. I know that you know and thanks for your confidence. I appreciate it more than you know.

"Thanks for reading, RS. I appreciate it."

Excuse me ?

... I believe we met of a couple of other threads, but not here...

But since you brought it up - Rush has talked a lot of good talk over the years, and could continue to do so, but he HAS to get this drug stuff behind him.

Rush is already making my stomach hurt! "So what, Bush doesn't have to run for office again, he can do what he wants..." Here comes a LaRaza Souter.
