"Rush Limbaugh, great American." Yep, he sure is. He's probably the main reason, why this country hasn't completely turned into a Socialist/Communist hell hole.
I think we might have given up a long time ago, and let the dems have the place, if it wasn't for his voice reminding us that we were not alone in our beliefs, that many others felt the same way. This was particularly true during the years of the Clinton administration.
When he came back from rehab, some FReeper posted a picture with him as the king from LOTR and captioned it "Return of the King". I thought that was fitting. He's the man who started Conservative talk radio, and gave it wings.

We freepers are expremely fortunate. In our adult lifetimes we somehow stumbled upon Rush Limbaugh and Free Republic when each of us thought we were the only voices crying out in the wilderness.
Our pooled talent on loan from God has made a difference on the American political and cultural scene, thanks to leaders like Rush and Jim Robinson.
We have good reason to celebrate this weekend. Happy Fourth to all.

Thank you for posting that article, it is a most fitting tribute to a man of vision and defender of Conservativatsm.
I have listened to Rush since he came to the Charleston SC market and was delighted to hear my thoughts and beliefs, being expressed nationally, everyday.
He has tapped into the "Silent Majority" of the country, who are no longer silent, thanks to him. He has given us a voice that can be heard and listened to by millions and striking fear into the hearts of socialists, who have been given free reign by liberals and the MSM.
The liberals, no longer, can say anything with impunity because their words are not allowed to go unanswered, they are analyzed for truth and disclosed to the public, on a daily basis. They have been disrobed and exposed for what they are. They can no longer rely on the MSM, for they also have been exposed for who they are.
We can give credit to Rush for all this and giving us that voice that is changing our country for the better.
Keep the light burning.

When I first "found" Rush,quite fortuitously,(around 1988)---my first reaction was---total shock, joy,and a sigh of relief--
I've been a Conservative ever since I could think---who is this guy?-----
At long last ---here is someone who AGREES WITH ME!!
What a fabulous read--and tribute to this intelligent,humorous,loyal American---Thanks writer33
God Bless America!!

Great post writer33 and great reply MinuteGal.
There is a way that Rush and David Limbaugh can do more. I sought, but was unable to get an appointment with David Limbaugh this past week. In lieu of being able to meet with David, I left a CDROM with his secretary that provides an outline of a plan that would allow Rush and David to lead an effort to restore the Constitution and recover the freedoms that we have lost as result of Congressional, Presidential and Supreme Court actions that have effectively gutted much of the Constitution.
If the Founders could come back to celebrate a Fourth this year, they would be appalled at what has happened to the republic and the freedoms that they preserved for us in the Constitution, especially Franklin and Jefferson. There is a series of articles posted under the Reagan Renaissance at Financial Sense Online that provides most of the nitty-gritty of what is needed to restore the Constitution. This particular article near the end of the series identifies what Rush can do that maybe no one else can: Reagan Renaissance.
