My theory is that the reporters are covering up for an administration source who has been helpful to them on other issues, or for someone who is outside the administration, read Dem, and planted the story to bring Bush down prior to the election.

Most reporters deal in rumors, then attach, it was from a high reliable source in the Whitehouse. Novak made it all up.

WHO CARES?!? I could not care less about this non-story. Valerie Plame was so clumsy with her covert status that half of D.C.'s social set knew exactly what she did. She should have had her clearance stripped long ago. Her political motives and that of her husband should have vetoed a special prosecutor. Bush should never have appointed one. Why did this warrant one and Sandy Berger did not? Trivial nonsense.
