"I'd love to see the President go out on a limb and nominate someone to the Supreme Court who isn't even a lawyer. There's nothing wrong with this country that a few accountants and engineers on the Supreme Court couldn't fix."
When you're right, you're right.
I nominate Ben Stein!
"Emceeing the National Right to Life's Proudly Pro-Life Awards Dinner a few months after Sept. 11, Stein spoke somberly of the 3,000 people who lost their lives that day, then added that many more lives than that are taken each day by abortion. "Abortion," said Stein, "is the worst form of terrorism because it is against the most innocent of lives, the unborn.""
Awesome idea. I can see the opionions now... "And to protect private property, the Founders esconced in the Fifth Amendment the... anyone? anyone? the takings clause, which was visited by this Court in the Kelo decision which... anyone? did or did not? anyone?... did not uphold the ideals of the Founders, and erroneously gave state and local governments the power to seize property for the enrichment of private entities.
I nominate Ben Stein!
In addition to being an actor, TV personality, and a pretty good writer, he taught law at Pepperdine, and if memory serves is an economist to boot. When you look up "rennaisance man" in the dictionary it says "see Stein, Ben".
Ben Stein has a law degree.
