We need some "spine " in the senate. A conservative in the White House(I do like GWB,but he is not a conservative)and numerated rights at the Supreme Court. The good news is there are 25 conservatives in the house.

It is going to get nasty in D.C. If the President nominates a conservative, there will be a battle in Congress that will make the Bolton mess look like child's play.
The Democrats are like a frightened, cornered dog. They are going to go all out on this one.
Look for filibuster mania.

Tragic but historically funny, a joke for all of time.....
Bush should nominate Ted Kennedy to the supreme court. Just imagine. What would the Dems do?

For dems, too much of their liberal orthodoxy is tied up in the Court.Make that ALL of their liberal orthodoxy is tied up int he courts.
Small correction. O'Connor was in the minority on the eminent domain case. Replacing her with a conservative would still yield 5-4 against property rights.

President Bush has always said that he would appoint strict constructionists.
President Bush doesn't lie. You can take the nomination of a strict constructionist to the bank

And another bet.
Bush will not get a SC judge to that bench before his term in office expires.
Unless of course, it's someone the democrats pick for him.

Eminent Domain.
The eminent domain decision I believe will become part of this fight for the court.
Specifically, justices from which wing voted for it again?
If the RNC can run a successful ad campaign (one thing they are good at) portraying Democrats as the friends of home grabbing justices.
I personally think O'Connor was resigning all along and I think everyone on the inside knew it, so they fed the rumor to the press in order to well, distract them.
