Would a lawyer please weigh in on the issue. I think impeached means accused or charged. Sittin thinks it means successfully convicted.

Impeached means formally charged by a majority vote of the House of Representatives. Convicted means convicted by a 2/3 vote of the Senate.

Of Presidents, only Andrew Johnson and Clinton were impeached; neither was convicted. Nixon was about to be impeached-- the House Judiciary Committee had unanimously recommended one article of impeachment, and had recommended two others by big margins-- but he resigned first.
