Pretty amazing plant.
I heard about this bloom on the local radio. Thought there might be a FReeper or two who would be interested. If you live in the OKC area, they are extending viewing hours - might want to bring a gas mask :).
Longwood looks fabulous.
We've had one bloom for the last two years at the college. They don't smell that bad.
From the website: "Observers have noticed the odor comes in waves and in close quarters it acts as a floral tear gas, making the eyes burn and water. The chemical responsible is believed to be butyric aldehyde."
Maybe you are just tougher than most :).
Wow. How long will it stay open? I might go down there today.
The bloom only lasts for about 72 hours. If you can get there today would be good - I think they're keeping viewing open until 8 pm.
