ANKARA (Reuters) - Turkish police shot dead a suspected suicide bomber near Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan's office in Ankara on Friday.
Turkish television showed live footage of police shooting at the man, said to be around 35 years old, in a street in the leafy central district of the capital. A Reuters correspondent saw the man lying dead in a pool of blood.
Witnesses said the suspected bomber had been unable to detonate his explosives.
The incident revived memories of four devastating suicide bomb attacks in Turkey's largest city Istanbul in November 2003. More than 60 people were killed in those attacks, which struck British and Jewish targets in the city.
Osama bin Laden's al-Qaeda network claimed responsibility for those attacks. Dozens of people are now being tried for involvement in those bombings.
Thanks! :)

Do that by flying over Ramadi, and you'd level half the town. The half that deserved it.
Only the mainstream media could refer to a guy wired with explosives who then tries to detonate himself as a "suspected" suicide bomber.
"Good head shots or bad wiring?"
You know you got to be damned close to get a good head shot, close enough that if his bomb does detonate your probably dead. Wonder what those cops were thinking once they had a chance to sit down and consider what had happened?

Police cordoned off the area in front of the Justice Ministry and the suspect could be seen on the ground as a member of the bomb squad, wearing protective clothing, removed the man's shirt and then held up a tan colored cylinder with wires coming out of it. Bomb disposal is not a job I would want I had the opportunity and actually thought about it for maybe a whole second. But, I sure am glad some people take the job.
It wasn't on my list of thing I wanted to do in life either. Sure glad it was for some other people.
We had an experience a few weeks before I left Viet Nam that involved an EOD type. A 60 mm mortar round hit our boat but didnt explode. We stayed off the well deck the entire trip back to Da Nang from Hue, knowing it would blow any time.
After we tied up at the repair dock the Navy EOD man came aboard. He looked at it, picked it up, said Dud, and chucked it over the side. It exploded as soon as it hit the water. Even the pros occasionally make a mistake.
