UN report puts world's illicit drug trade at estimated $321 Billion//Annual worldwide illegal drug sales are greater than the gross domestic product of 88 percent of the countries in the world, the UN said yesterday.
Another victory in the WOD. I'm sure this report is just the prelude to another power grab by the UN or the feds. All in the name of the children I'm sure.

The UN report, issued in Stockholm, said the global drug trade generated an estimated $321.6 billion in 2003, the latest year for which figures were available.The bulk of the money, $214 billion, was made at the retail level; drugs sold in streets and back alleys.
Comparing that to the oil market shows how big the illegal drug trade is.
Assuming world oil consumption is about 70 million barrels/day at $50/barrel, I came up with a figure of about $1.3 trillion.
