LOVE your idea!
Would that neighborhood happen to be above Shoal Creek on the west side, around 24th Street/Windsor Road?
I work near there and a few months ago saw a movie crew had taken over part of that neighborhood for a day or two. I assumed they were making a feature movie.
I dunno where they were filming, but I think you'd need to get out to West Austin to find coservative neighborhoods. Lot sof liberals in Austin, and even the high rent areas around Tarrytown are loaded with liberals.
On Mopac Boulevard, I see about as many Dubya stickers as I do sKerry stickers.
Yes, however the beauty of America has been that with the exception of blacks, people in our country intermarry. After three or four generations folks think of themselves as Americans.
But then he started talking about his union and voting Kerry and all kinds of stuff. I felt bad doing it (not really), because he's not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I let him go on and on and on about voting Democrat, knowing he had no idea what he was talking about, and I said to him, "You know, I'm really surprised to hear you say all that. Didn't you know that 99% of gays are Kerry supporters?" His face went blank and he never said another word about politics.
I'm convinced he really didn't know that, and he probably thought I was lying to him and he wanted to verify.
And that's exactly what the Shinnecocks at the East end of LI, NY, are trying to do - which involves BTW, the tony Hamptons!!!
Now they have the Supreme Court on their side, despite the fact that they've never been declared a legal Indian tribe in NY.
I did this through highschool. Mostly get ignored but after a while you get into a few conversations.
