Yeah, I don't get this... these guys were going to steal a car, a local beat the crap out of them, and it's somehow a "hate crime"?

And that is the only angle to this story! There's no mention if the car theives were even charged. Does the AP really think people are going to be outraged by this? WTF?!?!

Next time you hear the NAACP call for a 'hate crime' law you will understand what that means. The idea is that some crimes are politically correct(mainly those ones against you) and some are not.

For all the assailant knew, they were just three black guys. He coudln't read their minds, and there isn't any evidence that they confided their criminal intent to him.

It looks like he saw three black guys in his neighborhood and figured they were up to no good, mostly based on their color.

It just so happens that they were in fact up to no good.
