Maybe if it were done to them they would better be able
to understand what the Constitution says, why this article
was written and what it means.

Maybe the drafters of the Constitution had their property taken
and due to their experiences (and feelings on the matter)
included the language in the Constitution to prevent
such abuses in the New Republic.
