House Majority Whip Roy Blunt (Mo.) today issued the following statement following President Bush's speech to the troops at Fort Bragg, North Carolina:
"The president's dedication to a peaceful and stable Iraq as an important step toward peace in the Middle East was evident again tonight as he thanked the troops at Fort Bragg for their service and asked them to stay the course.
"We must reassure our troops that they have the unwavering support of Americans back home and maintain our commitment to the brave men and women serving in the armed forces until they accomplish their mission. As the president put it, their work is difficult and dangerous, but it is important. We cannot turn back.
"The worst thing we can do now is abandon our mission in Iraq and embolden our enemies, who want nothing more than to see freedom fail in the Middle East.
"Today marks the one-year anniversary of the transfer of sovereignty, and the Iraqi people are working hard to establish freedom and stability in their country. When more than 8 million Iraqis showed up at the polls to vote, they sent the message to the world that they are serious about peace, democracy and prosperity, and we cannot abandon them now."
Good statement. He's right.
I hope that others follow his leadership.

I agree...glad Blunt stepped up and supported the President's statements. Kudos to him!
He should be commended. The guy has guts.
And what does bttt stand for?
Thanks
Lots of guts.
Other members of the GOP should follow his lead IMO.
