The real question, one that is very disturbing, is:

How did it become the conventional wisdom that Saddam wasn't in league with Bin Laden?

The number of connections between them, known and documented before 9/11, was already substantial. Who decided that there was no connection, and how did this come to be commonly accepted?

The left swung into action to disavow the connection about 2.3 milliseconds after the first plane hit the WTC.
