Apple Computer Inc. yesterday introduced a version of its popular iTunes music software that includes a directory making it easier to find and listen to podcasts -- radio shows and other audio programs posted on the Internet for anyone to download. The new directory -- a sort of TV Guide for Internet audio programs -- also makes it easier to download podcasts onto Apple's iPod music player. Apple said last month that it planned to offer a podcast directory.

Apple's move comes as other companies also are working on better tools for locating, and, eventually, profiting from, podcasts. Microsoft Corp. plans to offer podcasting-related technologies in the future, according to people familiar with the matter. In that bottom photo Franken looks exactly like that cartoon frog on Courageous Cat, the frog who sounded exactly like Edward G. Robinson.

I hope somebody is keeping track of the clicks for Franken's podcast. It might reach double digits.

I'd rather put rap on my iPod than subject the poor thing to that.

Wouldn't listeners simply fast-forward past the ads, unless they were produced entertainingly enough to encourage listeners' attention?
