You know what though? I'M a Republican...or used to be. I'm not sure what I am anymore. I worked my butt off for President Bush in 2004. Today, I sent the RNC their "Urgent" fudnraising letter back and told them don't bother asking me for any more money until they grow a pair. Do you have any idea how BAD the illegal situation is in the South? I went up to the store today and as I was walking by a Payless shoe store, I noticed that the signage on the outside was in Spanish! No English, just friggin' Spanish!
My MIL who is of legal Mexican descent says that things have gotten so bad in Brownsville, that doctors in Matamoros are crossing into the US, applying for federal benefits and then go back to Mexico and live off my hard-earned money!
Bush has done NOTHING about this. It makes me sick. It's like a friend who betrays you, and you are just left with an emptiness. I've come to realize that Bush's handling of 9/11 was just a blessed fluke. He can't seem to govern his way out of a paper bag. =(
So? Why does that make you feel uncomfortable? Visit Houston sometime. There is one area where the street signs are in Vietnamese, areas where most of the signs are are in letters I can't decipher, areas where most of the signs are in Spanish.
So what? It doesn't hurt me. It doesn't make me feel insecure. It doesn't threaten me. I welcome the new experiences. I like trying new foods, learning new things, talking to people who aren't identical to me and listening to different bands. It's my choice to mingle with different people or to stick with my own kind. I like having the options.
Its the same where I live live. If I didn't know any better, I'd think I was in Mexico.
