See my post above re: FDR for some historical context - and I say that as a conservative that does NOT think very highly of FDR. I think the "libertarian" comment is apt - there is sometimes a fine line between freedom and anarchy.

Well as Republicans are wont to do these days, they lean on past precedent set by a liberal Democrat to confirm their arguments. Listen, we are not in a World War, we are not rationing food, gas, etc., and we are not in a depression that was extended by same said President's actions. I don't need 'reassuring'.

What I need is a party that remembers the call of the 1980s for limited smaller government. Lesser intrusive government. Government that isn't the fix for anything and everything. Government that's not going to try to sell me another line about invisible WMDs in yet another country. You find leadership that follows up on some of those policies, I may start listening again. Until then, I'll watch Discovery or some other channel where I'll actually learn something and be entertained
