The NBC Nightly News was #1 in total viewers last week, while ABC's World News Tonight was #1 in the 25-54 demographic. "Despite 91% coverage on Tuesday and Thursday, World News Tonight still outperformed Nightly News by 190,000 Adults 25-54 (2.0 vs. 1.9)," an ABC press release says. This is the sixth consecutive week ABC has beat NBC in the demo. For the week of June 20, in total viewers and the 25-54 demo:
NBC: 7,510,000 / 2,290,000
ABC: 7,330,000 / 2,480,000
CBS: 6,370,000 / 2,020,000
> Also: In the second quarter of 2005, Nightly News was #1, but WNT outperformed NN by 70,000 adults 25-54. "This marks the first time since 1996 that World News Tonight has out-delivered Nightly News among key demo viewers in the 2nd quarter," an ABC press release says.
And Fox News primetime shows are almost 50% of CBS News ratings. How long until Fox News passes CBS?
"Total viewership for all 3 is 21 million this past week. Two weeks ago, it was 22 million and a few months ago it was 25 million. A year or two ago, it was 30 million. Nice downward trajectory don't ya think?"
That might have something to do with the fact that the election is over. I wouldn't get too excited, Broadcast news still trounces cable news and talk radio.
There is a downward trajectory, but it is far more gradual than that. It will be many years before most peoples minds are truly free.
'swhy Procter and Gamble are seriously reconsidering all their TV buys for next season.
This is what I'm thinking.
Ya gotta LOVE it!!
That's music to my ears dude!
Suggestion:
Fox starts broadcasting an evening news hour on their commercial channels.
"The Fox News Hour" with
Brit Hume & Tony Snow maybe
or Laurie Dhue & Page Hopkins?(now that would be HOT! LOL)
I hope those who decide that the American people do not need to be updated on the war - while decrying that the American people are not sufficiently informed - simply crash and burn in the ratings and never recover.
Seems they cannot shoot themselves in the foot enough times as they have yet to 'get' the real message the public is sending to them.
