The DUmmies were all up in arms about this kid and now, it appears, it was all a hoax.

I don't get it. I read the entire article and didn't come across any actual "allegations of child abuse". Did I miss something?

I suspect the point is that opposition is implying that even considering that "gay" is a problem is abuse.

Reading the comments at "Zach's" blog was revealing...

Child psychiatrist - fully in support of the kid being gay, even though he "decided" he was gay when he was just 13.

Lots of invitations by gay men to "run away and come stay with me here in _____".

Lots of women (used to call them fag hags) who gave their full support.

The article doesn't state a single alleged abuse. I guess it must be brushing their teeth twice a day. Ever notice how dingy and plaque filled the homos teeth are? I think it's plaque.

So what was his complaint or allegation?

You're probably right. And the fact that it was a *gasp* Christian camp probably contributed to the "abuse". Glad the DCS had enough sense to dismiss the issue.

John Smid, executive director of Love In Action, said the allegations were never described to him but he assumed they involved a complaint of psychological abuse.

What an odd thing to assume.

But I'm A Cheerleader
DVD ~ Natasha Lyonne
Average Customer Review:
Currently unavailable

Amazon.com
A promising comedy that goes awry all too early, But I'm a Cheerleader concerns a misunderstood high school kid (Natasha Lyonne) whose parents send her to a harsh, homosexual-rehabilitation camp despite a lack of evidence that she's gay. Ruled with an iron fist by a fascist counselor

Did a search of "Love In Action" and "Crossroads Ministries". Found this:

Ex-Gay Reparative Therapy

Ex-gay ministries started in the early 1970's with a group called Love in Action, under the principle that through prayer gay people could be converted to heterosexuals. Shortly after, the co-founder of Love in Action, Rev. Kent Philpott, wrote the landmark book The Third Sex?, which described the conversion process of six gay people to heterosexuality.

Search on "Interfaith Alliance" and "Reparative Therapy":

American Counseling Association Passes Resolution to Oppose Reparative Therapy

The American Counseling Association (ACA) passed a resolution at its annual meeting on April 13th in San Diego to oppose promotion of reparative therapy for homosexuals. With this action, they allied themselves with the American Psychiatric and Psychological Associations. The ACA joins a new coalition of groups which has banded together to oppose therapy, as follows:

American Academy of Pediatrics
American Federation of Teachers
American Medical Association
American Psychiatric Association
American Psychological Association
The Interfaith Alliance
National Association of School Psychologists
National Association of Social Workers
National Association of Secondary School Principals
National Education Association
New Ways Ministries
People for the American Way

"The ACA has overridden the express directives of two of their regional assemblies--the Western and Southern," says Dr. Warren Throckmorton, Past President of of the American Mental Health Counselors Association, a division of ACA. "This action is not only contrary to the wishes of many ACA members, but it disrespects the legitimate objectives of many homosexual clients."

Yeah, well, we call them DUmmies for a reason! Wouldn't be the first time they fell for a hoax.

Where was the link to the blog? I didn't see it.

For completeness, here is "Zach's" blog ... for all we know he could be an agent provocateur...

Zach's Blog Home page

Note: comments are attached to each blog posting. The one with the most comments are "Gave me a lot of Rules" I think... it looks like a lot of comments have been deleted however. Go to "view all blog entries" in order to see which one has the most comments, which is currently the last post, with 1493 comments, about 90% in support of "God made you gay" and similar comments.

Some interesting names on that list. I wonder why the National Education Association would have a stand on homosexuality... hmm... ;)

"Child psychiatrist - fully in support of the kid being gay, even though he "decided" he was gay when he was just 13."

That's pretty telling about the psychiatrists agenda. There is no way somebody could know they are gay at 13. At that age it's more likely you're just a late bloomer. This is exactly the tactic they use to "recruit". Find gender/sexually confused youth and convince them that they must naturally be homosexual and should only look at the same sex.

I know why homosexual activists oppose converting gays to straights, but like many things about the left, it doesn't make sense.

No one is forcing any ADULTS to go through this training. If a gay guy decides that he doesn't want to be gay, why can't he change? An alcoholic can give up drinking, and a drug addict can get clean. Why can't a gay either become straight or become celibate, if they so choose. I thought the left liked choice.

So either these therapies work or they do not. If they work, and the people in the programs want to change, good for them. If they didn't want to change they wouldn't be in a program in the first place. If the therapy does not work, then where is the harm?

Do you perhaps think the "abuse" was in trying to make the kid straight?

I guess that, along with the religious nature of the group and all of the "rules" that Zack seemed so put out by. What's sad is that, although we've not yet reached that point, those things will someday (legally) constitute child abuse.
