Former New York City mayor Rudy Giulianis talk-show cheerleading of President George W. Bush may be getting tiresome, but its all part of GOP strategist Karl Roves master plan to get Americas mayor elected in 2008, we hear. But not necessarily to the Oval Office.
According to well-placed political sources, Giuliani has been working closely with Rove to build a Presidential platform against presumed Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton. Theres been talk on Capitol Hill for months about Roves secret meetings in New York with Giuliani, says one D.C. operative. [Rudy] is not appearing on Hardball and Larry King for his health.
But sources say the job Rove has in mind for Giuliani isnt the one the ever-ambitious ex-mayor is angling for; as usual, the Boy Genius has his own ideas. Whoever gets the Republican nomination is going to appear so extremist that it will be hard for them to appeal to moderates, the core of winning any national election, in the national arena, notes our insider. But you add on an American hero like Rudy Giuliani and you have a likable ticket. Just prepare yourself for constant reels of Giuliani saving New York on September 11, 2001.
Painfully familiar with Roves machinations and mindful that Giuliani is likely too moderate to ever win the GOPs blessing, Democratic strategists have taken to viewing him as a secret weaponthe kind of middle-of-the-road Republican (i.e. pro-choice and non-anti-gay) who would look good in the VP slot next to a fire-breather like Bill Frist. Just dont tell Rudy. Neither representatives for Rove nor Giuliani returned
I've been saying for months that I wouldn't mind a George Allen/Rudy ticket for '08.
Hmmmm not a bad ticket at all. A sure winner!!!
So - if Rudy is the VP, will he wear drag and march in New York's Gay Parade? After all, he's a big suppporter of homosexuals and their wonderful "lifestyle" (see sodomy).
Just can't see Rudy being happy with a #2 spot.
Yeah...well a little advice for Rudy...STAY OUT OF AIRPLANES!
Well take it with a grain of salt considering the author labels Frist as a firebreathing conservative. Oh, how I wish that it were true!
OH PLEASE!
Actually I have never heard of this magazine - I just happened to come upon it reading a story about Kerry's NY Times Opinion piece. They made fun of Kerry saying he's still dead as a doornail.
Yes, he will.
Not that there's anything wrong with that...
Ahha! Leave the high road to the Prez candidate and the LOW road for Rudy to handle.
Well can't get much lower than a clinton so I hope he comes out swinging!~}
I could never vote for a pro-abortion presidential nominee, but I might be able to support Giuliani as VP if the presidential nominee is pro-life, and if the ticket represents the lesser of two evils.
As VP, OK but not as President...
Rudy has to beat hillary in 2006 before he gets any consideration for the presidential ticket in 2008.
It's my view that he will be ineffective in either role.
A RINO is a RINO is a RINO..........
Radar Magazine?
You never know...I'm not saying he'd do it, but just that he'd be formidable as a VP candidate.
That line made me chuckle.
How can he beat Hillary in 2006? He's not running for Senator. Pirro will run against Hillary and Cox is running too.
LOL
Ridiculous statement. Beating the Hildebeast in 2006 in NY is not going to happen, and anyone who is holding out hope for her defeat is unrealistic re: NY liberalism.
