I don't travel much and am usually too busy to take vacations. But God as my witness, if this is built, I WILL make my first visit to NH and enjoy every minute of it!
Oh please, let this not just be idle talk.

Okay, I just read the article and not followup posts yet. Priceless! As I read on, I will find out whether or not this is satire or real.
IF real, tell me where to invest in this development company. All Freepers (and even the DU on this one) should buy one share in this development company. Man o' man...it would be priceless!
If satire...well, what can I say? It should be real.

I am seeing a connection between this and the Minute Men, a return to pre-FDR "If you want something done, don't ask the government to do it, do it yourself"-style citizen initiative. This is an obscure practice called "being an American" which many seem to have forgotten about, in favor of "That's the government's job" or "We can't win, this country sucks" complacency.

This is absolutely brilliant!!! Satire or not, this is really a wonderful idea.

I think they should start taking reservations so they can prove that it would generate revenue.
I want to book a room for opening week. Hell, I'll stay 2 weeks a year.

I don't think that he gave any thought to the idea that this could apply to him.He probably thought that no one would dare.

Ping me! This one I want to follow closely.

This is where all the fun starts. Before I retired, I used to get so frustrated with those Mental Midgets down at City Hall. I often stated that when I retired I would hire a Lawyer to sit out in front with me and offer services to all who were aggrieved. So in response to your post wherein you wrote;
"Be nice. But the area is probably not zoned commercial. Or some other reason to deny it..."
Often one of the hurdles to obtaining a building permit is to overcome the burden of changing the current zoning to something more favorable to your purpose.
In this case, with the current SC decision still fresh on everyone's mind, the application to build could simply ask that the zoning be changed.
This is going to be fun! Thanks to all for making my pre-retirement dream come true. Simper Fi

This is a great idea. We should get togeather a list of 2000 names that are willing to make a pillgramage to the Lost Liberty Hotel. Someone should put togeather a statement showing the potential income (taxes) NH shall expect to recieve upon completetion of this hotel. I will donate 10 copies of Atlas Schrugged to the hotel
